Your family's privacy matters to us. Nightly Stories is a personalized bedtime story service for children, and we take our responsibility to protect your information (and your child's) seriously. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why we collect it, and how it's used.

1. Who We Are

Nightly Stories is a personalized bedtime story service that delivers AI-generated stories to families via email on a nightly basis.

2. Information We Collect

When you sign up for Nightly Stories, we collect the following information:

Parent/Guardian information: Your name and email address
Child information: Your child's first name, age, genre preferences, and the name of their story companion (optional)
Personal note: Any optional note you provide to personalize stories further
Billing information: Processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store your payment card details.
Story history: Titles of previously generated stories, used only to avoid repeating stories

We do not collect your child's last name, school, location, photos, or any other identifying information beyond what is listed above.

3. How We Use Your Information

The information you provide is used solely to deliver and improve the Nightly Stories service:

Generating personalized bedtime stories for your child using AI
Delivering stories to your email address each night
Processing your subscription and managing billing
Avoiding story repetition by referencing past story titles
Responding to your support requests

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond delivering the service you signed up for.

4. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Nightly Stories collects limited information about children under 13 solely to personalize bedtime stories. This service is directed at parents and guardians, not children directly. By signing up, you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of the child whose information you provide, and that you consent to its use as described in this policy.

We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We collect only the minimum information necessary to deliver our service, and we do not share children's information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

If you believe we have inadvertently collected information about a child without proper parental consent, please contact us at hello@getnightlystories.com and we will delete it promptly.

5. Third-Party Services

To operate Nightly Stories, we share limited information with the following trusted services:

Anthropic: Our AI provider that generates stories. Your child's name, age, genre preference, companion name, and optional parent note are sent to Anthropic's API to generate each story. Anthropic's privacy policy is available at anthropic.com/privacy.
SendGrid (Twilio): Our email delivery provider. Your email address and story content are sent via SendGrid to deliver nightly emails.
Stripe: Our payment processor. Stripe handles all billing and stores your payment information securely. We never have access to your full card details. Stripe's privacy policy is available at stripe.com/privacy.
Google Sheets: We use Google Sheets as our subscriber database to store your account information securely.

We do not sell your information to any third parties. Ever.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your subscription is active. If you cancel your subscription, your personal data (including your child's information and story history) will be deleted within 30 days of cancellation.

7. Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information. Your data is stored in Google Sheets with access restricted to our team. Payment information is handled entirely by Stripe, which is PCI-DSS compliant. Email delivery is handled by SendGrid using authenticated, encrypted connections.

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we are committed to protecting your information using industry-standard practices.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you and your child
Request correction of any inaccurate information
Request deletion of your data at any time
Withdraw consent and cancel your subscription at any time

9. Changes to This Policy
